Finch, those are amazing! What fantastic characters, I love the owls especially, and the long eyelashes/whiskers. They kind of remind me of something you'd find in Final Fantasy (which is a compliment, I promise, I love those games)

How do you fill your day? How does anyone fill their day? I think the truth is you fill your day most of the time by being in the washing machine of your own mind, thinking, "What's this? When does it stop? Am I enjoying it? I don't know. Oh, it's time to go to sleep! I can't, I'm worried."

I actually designed something I like for the first time in a while (though the brief for this was 'ornate and lovely'... not quite sure I got that yet ), but as a result I'm being more fussy about it. Guys, thoughts plz: Light? Dark? Or darker?

oh that's great! hmm...my immediate favorite is the lightest but maybe the middle would be more visible. the first aesthetically and the middle for functionality? FINCH I LOVE YOU. i call dibs on an owl.

Yeah, the first is how it's drawn in Illustrator and then I ran Auto Contrast on it and realised how pale it was You're probably right that it's easier to read the middle. Maybe I'll add some leaves or background trees to make it more lovely, too. I dunno. Or put some bark marks on the trees, though that might mess with the string.

you could do tree bark or some tree texture in a shade lighter than the tree itself then the string would still pop. i LOVE string in general.

I like the first one, but I think the middle one might be better as it would be more legible if one was seeing the poster from a distance. Very nice design, form and function both!

I went for medium contrast, and added some barkness and background. I was going to add leaves too but it was looking a bit too much like my one with the animals in suits.

I must be alone in that I like the last one! I agree, actually. I like contrast in a poster. More legible. eta. ooh, and now I'm seeing your final solution and it is lovely. I like the dimension added. Beautiful design, Laura.

They went for the kites one! Kind of surprised since that's my least favourite, but at least they liked it.
I might have to do something else with that middle one. Make it an Etsy print or something.

Poser? Is it a scene from something?
The two figures were made for Poser, but were imported into 3D Studio Max using Reiss BodyStudio (and boy, do I have beef with Reiss, but that's a whole other story.) And no, not for anything specifically, I was trying for something with an Avatar-ish feel for a themed contest, but I can't get it to look the way I want so the hell with it. Some of the meshes are mine and a couple are from a cg artist's share site. Flag, grass, background, and some elements of hair and clothes I painted in Painter IX, and the whole image was postworked in Painter. Man, that image compression Tinypic uses didn't do it any favors, either.

I have a swanky graphics tablet that I shamefully don't use. So I have decided to start using it again. Drawing yourself at 15 is a good way to remember that things could be a lot worse.
